List of Nominated Police Officers
National
Crime Records Bureau, conducts two training programmes of twelve weeks
duration, every year, between January-March, one each on
Information Technology in Law Enforcement
and
Advanced Finger Print Science & Computers
for Foreign Police Officers, sponsored by Government of India, under the
ITEC/SCAAP scholarship schemes of the Ministry of
External Affairs and TCS of Colombo Plan of the
Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.
Programme
– I :
Information Technology in Law Enforcement
All the Police forces are facing challenges of terrorism, organized crime,
maintenance of public order. Public expectations from Police forces have
increased manifold wanting prompt response to request, accountability,
transparency and open communication.
To meet these
expectations, there is need to adopt Intelligence-Led Policing and proactively
deal with various crimes and law and order problems to improve service to the
society. The information Technology enables easy collection, collation and
analysis of crime data.
To develop
competency in the use of Information Technology and change the old processes
and practices to create Intelligence-Led People friendly police, training is a
critical factor.

design and develop software packages.

analysis using IT tools.

To interact with Indian Police Officers to share
experiences.

To understand the nuance of Cyber Security and methods of
prevent and secure the IT environment.

Programme
– II :
Advanced Finger Print Science & Computers
Finger Print based personal identification being unique, is the best physical
evidence available at a Scene of Crime to identify an unknown criminal.
Successful matching of the fingerprints necessitates a comprehensive and
up-to-date database of fingerprints. An investigating officer should ideally
be able to get results of FP queries about a chance print at the crime scene
or about a suspect on the same day. This is made possible by the application
of Information Technology in the field of FP Science.

Designed for Police Officers acquainted with the
Finger Print Science, it strives

To acquaint them with the current trends/
developments/ Innovations incorporated in the processing of fingerprints
in the Bureau/fields.

To provide an opportunity for mastering the
application of advanced hi-tech electronic equipment for detection and
development of latents at a Scene of Crime.

To open up a vast vista for grappling and grasping
the intricacies of automation of FP data and its application for speedy
processing of FP queries.

Fingerprint Identification activities with at least 3 years of service.
They should be able to read, write & speak English (Compulsory) |
Study Tours
(Common
for trainees of both the programmes) :
To different
State Crime Records Bureaux and District Crime Records Bureaux to understand
their working and interact with senior officers to share experiences in
policing and use of computers in police work.
Visit to
various training institutions and laboratories associated with police to have
an understanding of the working and get acquainted with the latest
developments/advancements in respective fields.
How
to apply :
The
application forms under the scholarship scheme are available with the
Embassy/High Commission. Duly filled up forms clearly indicating the course
opted for are to be submitted to the Indian Embassy/High
Commission by 15th September 2010. The last date for
receipt of application at NCRB is 20th October 2010.
The

Accommodation :
Accommodation will be arranged in hotels and payment will be made by the
Government of India.
Weather :
It is very cold during January & February – daytime temperatures range between
16–30 degrees Celsius and night temperature may dip to 4 degrees Celsius.
