Motor Vehicle Verification Counter
The NCRB has opened a Motor Vehicle Verification Counter w.e.f. 05.01.2001 at its headquarters in New Delhi, provide the following information to the general public at a nominal fee of Rs.10/-. · Recovery status of a stolen vehicle · To enable the potential buyer of a second hand vehicle to know whether the vehicle is not a stolen one or involved in any crime. The results are provided instantaneously. The above facility can also be availed by outstation applicants.
The application received by post from general public can be processed only when the following details are furnished in the application. 1) To know the status of a vehicle (whether the particular vehicle has been reported to have been stolen) a) IPO's of Rs.10/- in favor of Director, NCRB. b) Registration Number, Engine Number, Chassis Number, Type, Make, Manufacturing year of the vehicle and complete address of the applicant. 2) To know the Recovery Status of the Stolen Vehicle a) IPO's of Rs. 10/- in favor of Director, NCRB b) Registration Number, Engine Number, Chassis Number, Type, Make, Manufacturing year of the vehicle and complete address of the applicant. c) FIR No., FIR Date, Name of Police Station, District and State along with attested copy of F.I.R. report from Police Station.
The Bureau may not be in a position to make correspondence with each individual in case incomplete information is received.
The results are intimated by ordinary post.

Web based Recovered Vehicle Inquiry Information on Motor Vehicles recovered in the country is made available on NCRB website w.e.f. 1st January’ 2002. The database is updated regularly with the information of recovered vehicles received from the states and districts. The information of recovered vehicles can be seen on website.
FIREARMS National Database and Counter NCRB receives data pertaining to lost/recovered firearms from States/UTs regularly. A central databank is created on National Computer installed in the National Police Computer Centre of the Bureau. At present, 94261 records of lost/recovered firearms are available in the national databank and about 4885 cases have been coordinated. The database is updated on day-to-day basis. A system has been developed to coordinate recovered firearms with the lost ones to help restore firearms to their rightful owners. This Bureau has already opened Firearms Counter at its headquarters in New Delhi through which one can know about the recovery status of the stolen firearms if the same is recovered in any part of the country and also to know before the purchase of firearms as to whether the same is stolen one or otherwise. Talash System The NCRB has been maintaining a National level databse of Arrested, Wanted, Missing, Kidnapped, Deserters, Escapees, Unidentified persons and Unidentified Dead Bodies under the Talash System. At present, we have a database of 292890 as on 19/12/2008. The Bureau has also Co-ordination System through which co-ordinated information under the Talash System are provided under the following parameters.
